Athletes recognize the benefits of bodywork in preparing for competition, recovering from injury and reducing the chance that injury will strike. Our goal is to help you become an effective sport bodywork therapist.
This six-day course will teach event, maintenance and injury-specific techniques to integrate with your present skills. Treatment protocols are designed to be an effective means of addressing the common complaints of training and competing athletes.
Sport Bodywork has become an accepted part of peak training for athletes – whether they are professional or recreation athletes. There is an increasing need for highly trained Sport Bodywork therapists in settings from the Olympics, to schools, health clubs and local competitive events.

The CORE Structural Integrative Therapy Certification Program will be taught in four intensive seminars at the CORE Institute of Tallahassee, FL. George P. Kousaleos and selected faculty of the CORE Institute will teach this 500 hour program in the 10 sessions of structural integration.
CORE Structural Integrative Therapy is the most advanced system of structural integration taught at this time. Utilizing the classical treatment formats that were designed a half-century ago, the CORE Structural system also utilizes clinical techniques and educational strategies that are client-friendly. The power of this system is matched by learning objectives that honor the client’s ability to increase their neurosomatic awareness with that level of touch that corresponds to their sensory nervous system and somatotype.
CORE Advanced Structural Integration is a 10-session, system-wide process of deep bodywork. It is designed to improve the STRUCTURAL and FUNCTIONAL abilities of the human body in its relationship to the gravitational field. CORE Structural Integration also utilizes clinical techniques and educational strategies that are client-friendly. The power of this system comes from honoring the client’s ability to increase his neuro-somatic awareness. You will learn how to use communication and somatic awareness to match your touch to your client’s sensory nervous system and somato-type.
Built on the tradition of Ida Rolf and the SOMA Institute, CORE Institute’s 10-session Structural Integration program focuses on precision of technique and depth of knowledge (50% more material covered than peers) – to ensure that CORE SI grads are at the top in their field, and reaping the rewards.
CORE Structural Integration constitutes a 10-session system of progressively deeper myofascial treatments that structurally improves all fascial layers and extrinsic and intrinsic musculature. The 10 sessions focus on establishing an integrated structure, balancing the intrinsic spiral in the body, releasing chronic myofascial tension, improving movement patterns, and increasing self-reliance through heightened neurosomatic awareness. Each of the 10 sessions focuses on a specific region of the body, progressively working into deeper and more specific layers of the myofascial network.
The CORE Structural Integration certification is a 350-hour program that will take place once a month for 10 months.
Certification: Those who become certified in CORE Structural Integration are eligible for membership in the International Association of Structural Integrators.
Phase One training is titled CORE Extrinsic, and it includes goal-based lessons of the first three 90-minute sessions of the work, along with advanced body-reading strategies, flexibility programs, and the use of other educational strategies that promote client participation.
Phase Two training is titled CORE Intrinsic, and it includes the treatment plans of the four deepest sessions that work with the alignment and balance of the pelvis, spine, and cranium. Psychological theories and strategies are presented, along with advanced anatomy and physiology of these regions and related systems.
Phase Three training is titled CORE Integration, and it includes the potential treatment strategies for the final three sessions, which seek to integrate the upper and lower divisions of the body, as well as coordinating brain hemisphere function. These three sessions have often been referred to as the “sculptural artwork” of structural integration. The level of client participation, especially in the design of the final session is mandatory for success.
Each intensive seminar is taught from 9:30am to 5:30pm each day, with half-day classes every 4th day. Reading materials include Rolfing by Ida P. Rolf, Anatomy Trains by Thomas Myers, A Dynamic Relation to Gravity by Edward Maupin, and Job’s Body by Deane Juhan. A goal-oriented technical manual written by George P. Kousaleos forms the detailed curriculum outline of each session. Each participant will also have 2 in-class clients for clinical practicum and will document 3 out-of-class clients during the months between the Phases.
For those who wish to utilize a one-year to 36 month payment plan with the CORE Institute, please contact Pat Kousaleos at: pat@coreinstitute.com.
