CORE Structural Therapy

CORE Myofascial Therapy

"The message of Gurdjieff, and Ouspensky who followed him, was that it didn't matter what you did ad much as how you did it. Many years ago, in a Sunday supplement, I saw a picture of the Olympic races. Among the first four contestants in this picture, the thing that was so outstanding was that the man who won was operating in form and all of the others were operating out of desperation that they had to get there. The front runner was perfectly quiet and easy and could have carried on a conversation all the time he was running. This is form."

CORE Myofascial Therapy is a client-centered, Structural Bodywork approach that mobilizes the myofascial network, improving human Structural and Functional potentials. CORE Myofascial Therapy centers on advanced structural and myofascial procedures, exercises, and educational strategies that increase client’s resiliency, flexibility, balance, and awareness.

CORE Myofascial Therapy was originally developed for those who have completed the 10 sessions of Structural Integration and are looking to receive ongoing bodywork sessions. However, lots of people who will never go through the 10 session series have wrists, backs, necks and ankles, hips and jaws which need attention. CORE Myofascial Therapy is an effective tool in eliminating these strains / sprains and restore greater length, movement and resiliency to injured regions of the body.

"When a body is in pain or discomfort, whether physical or emotional, the unconscious response is to tighten and shorten in an effort to "get away" from the pain. Our work focuses on lengthening and balancing the body in order for the tightened tissue to have some place to go upon release." Ida P. Rolf

30, 60, or 90 minute sessions are offered for this style of bodywork. This method of Structural

Bodywork is excellent for Injury Specific

Treatment or Athletic Maintenance:

30 Minute: CORE Specific Techniques can be applied to clients whom need deeper work to the neck, shoulder, back or hip or for specific injury focus.

60 Minute: This session combines use of Myofascial Spreading, Arthrokinetics, and End Work for a lighter and more general CORE Bodywork session. This is also an excellent session for athletes who are in heavy training, or for post event treatment.

90 Minute: This session format provides the ultimate CORE Myofascial treatment. This session utilizes all of the CORE techniques progressing from superficial, to moderate, to deep pressure throughout the body. Clients experience the greatest structural change during this session and are able to integrate this change through body reading techniques that take place pre, mid, and post session.

"Structural Integration is about the whole person; it is about the fascia and feeling. The sensation of moving from weakness into strength, the exhilaration of owning a new part of oneself, the immediate and simultaneous re-education of ones being and action, the joy of self-empowerment, waking up; these are the experiences of Structural Integration."

"Joe, I thought what you did last year for my elbow was magic. Thensix months later physical therapy for my shoulder and neck was recommended by my doctor. After two months of p.t. there was no improvement and the suggested one hour of exercise every day was getting me down (particularly because it wasn’t getting any better). Thought of you and decided to give it a try. Voila!! Two sessions and I was already much, much better…….the magic continues."

Janice Monteith"Joe, Just wanted to let you know how much you have helped my piriformis issue. For years it has been so uncomfortable that I had to modify my running schedule and I could barely sit for twenty minutes. Now I can sit and I am back to my running regime!! Thank you, your work is amazing!!Susan Clark"Joe,I have been to many therapists, and you are definately one of the best. Im so glad my trainer referred me to you. You were able to resolve my hip and shoulder issues, which have plagued me for nearly a year, in just 3 or 4 visits. And I appreciated your trying to understand how I was causing it, and showing me strectching techniques which seem to be keeping my issues under control. I recommend you to everyone I talk to. keep up the good work!."

Peter Lannan"Joe, Thank you. After only a few visits you relieved the nagging ache in my lower back and hip that I lived with for years. I thought aches and pains were part of getting older but you explained what the problem was and how to correct it. I have highly recommended your services to friends and family telling them that they do not have to live with pulled muscles or old sports injuries. Thanks again, a very satisfied customer."

Peter Maher "I've been going to different therapists on and off for about 10 years. I've never had long term relief from chronic pain in my hips and shoulder until I met Joe! His technique is incredibly therapeutic. He has also suggested many great stretches and exercises that allow me to run and practice yoga while working out my tight muscles!!
