"Rolfing is permanent. As one student put it, after you're Rolfed you're like a Jaguar. No matter how long you drive a Jaguar, it's not going to turn into a Ford."
Ida P. Rolf, Ph.D.

"One of the differences between Structural Integration Practitioners and practitioners of medicine, osteopathy, chiropractic, naturopathy, etc., is that the latter are all relieving symptoms.  They make no effort to put together elements into a more efficient energy system."
Dr. Ida P. Rolf, Ph.D.

"A Rolfer (Structural Integration Practitioner) works with gravity; he understands the gravitational pull in everything a human being does, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, from the moment he gets out of his mothers womb. From that day until the day the undertaker catches up with him, gravity does not take a vacation."
Dr. Ida P. Rolf, Ph.D.

Welcome

Welcome to CORE Structural Therapy. I’m Joe Ackerman, owner and certified in the 'CORE' method of Structural Integration (a derivative of Rolfing). I’d like to tell you a little bit about CORE, so you can make the best choice possible when it comes to therapy and your health.

Born out of the lineage of Dr.Ida P.Rolf’s Structural Integration , the 'CORE method' is an advanced form of myofascial therapy and structural bodywork that works more deeply into the body than massage does, while also taking a more integrated approach than your medical doctor normally takes. You see, a medical doctor is trained to treat the overt symptoms of illness or injury. He does this by isolating the “problem” and treating it.

  • You have a broken leg; he sets it and puts it in a cast
  • You have a back strain; he prescribes rest and anti-inflammatory
medication to reduce swelling and take away the pain

With CORE Structural Integration therapy, the emphasis is on “integration.” So not only can I treat your acute (or overt) symptoms, I also look to the deeper structural patterns, which have given arise to the 'symptoms' and thus rebalancing these strain patterns is what provides the lasting change in chronic issues, movement limitations, flexibility and freedom within ones body. My goal is treat the entire system to maximize healing AND to prevent re-injury.

"The soul of man with all the streams of pure living water seems to dwell in the fascia of his body. When you deal with the fascia you deal and do business with With the branch offices of the brain, and under the general corporation law, the same as the brain itself, and why not treat it with the same degree of respect.
Andrew Taylor Still, 1899

CORE Myofascial Therapy

CORE Myofascial Therapy utilizes the theory and techniques of Structural Integration  as an effective tool in treating local regions of the body while still keeping the global picture in mind. This form of myofascial release is very effective in treating common strains/sprains or injuries, athletic performance maintenance and general bodywork. Clients will often choose this form of bodywork prior to and following the 10 sessions of Structural Integration. Learn more ››

"When the body gets working appropriately, the force of gravity can flow through, then spontaneously the body heals itself."
