Posters are one of the most common educational tools that schools, companies, and governmental agencies have used to stimulate learning and comprehension through a visual medium. As a teacher of structural integration and myofascial therapy I have found the poster titled The Origin of Injury and Illness: Fascia, by Joseph Ackerman, LMT, to be incredibly helpful to anyone who wants to comprehend the properties and functions of fascia.
Ackerman has incorporated the essential definitions of the role of fascia while including the multiple benefits of keeping fascia healthy. His athletic and anatomical images and artwork, including strategic use of color and light, allows the viewer to easily read the information while enjoying the stimulation of the visual concepts.
This poster is being used at the CORE Institute in both physiology classes and clinical courses on myofascial and structural therapies. Students have commented on the importance of having multiple opportunities to see and learn from the essential elements displayed through Ackerman’s poster.
